Marketing Manager

Department: Administrative
Location: Lakeland, FL

$55,080.00 per year

Description: This is a professional and supervisory position reporting directly to the CEO with the responsibility of conducting the marketing initiatives of the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County. Work involves educating the community through diverse marketing/outreach methods regarding the Coalition's mission and services, utilizing social media, billboards, graphics, videos, community publications, outreach opportunities and community networking.

Work is performed under limited supervision with latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position seeks technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

Coalition staff may be one on one with children in the Coalition office reception area while parents are obtaining services. Additionally, staff are expected to participate in Coalition sponsored events and may be one on one with children at activity booths.

  • Maintains regular communication with the CEO to provide timely and accurate information. Provides immediate notification to the CEO in the event of any anomalies, issues or concerns within the department
  • Provides creative and imaginative ways to enhance Coalition promotion, community outreach, public education, and resource development
  • Raises awareness about the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County's services, including childcare assistance, Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Program, and Childcare Resource & Referral Services to community members, families, providers, partnering agencies and local businesses
  • Develops relationships with and works with local media outlets including TV, radio, print and streaming services
  • Implements community outreach plans, collaborates with partners, and coordinates special events
  • Manages social media, showcasing childcare activities, promoting events, literacy, and early education resources
  • Creates and manages public relations events promoting early learning programs
  • Participates in TV and radio interviews to advocate for the Coalition
  • Serves as the primary contact for media inquiries, responding promptly and accurately, consulting with the CEO as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Schedules, trains, motivates, and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to identify improvements; makes recommendations regarding discipline when necessary

This position must be available to work flexible schedules, including attendance at frequent community events during nights, weekends, and holidays as required. This position does not require set office hours due to the scheduling requirements often outside of traditional work hours. A valid Florida driver’s license, availability of an automobile during work hours, and the ability to travel locally, regionally, or statewide for site visits, training and other job-related activities and functions are required.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, management, communications, education, or a related area; supplemented by five (5) years’ experience working in the non-profit sector; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

The position requires knowledge and awareness of the programs offered by the Coalition and other community and governmental agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with an Early Learning Coalition in Florida
  • Experience managing employees

Physical, Environmental, and Sensory Requirements:

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and periods of time standing and/or walking.

Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).

Some tasks require the ability to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, detect, and/or position objects. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate between cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate effectively.
